State of the Umbra
The only place to enter the Umbra that is not too high of a gauntlet to get through safely - is at the caern and caern heart. As you pass through, there is a curious lack of spiritual presence, at the caern and otherwise.
The caern heart, if you are allowed in by a vigilant Dances-With-Fire, is covered in Ivy, with small stepping stones that have been added to reach the center of the room. The center of the room is filled with a human sized orb that now has ivy growing up and over it. The ivy is growing throughout the caern much faster in the umbra than in the physical world, and has spread to several adjoining rooms.
Outside of the caern, the umbra looks much as the real world does as far as buildings are concerned. It's in ruins, few spirits are in the area, at least, few friendly spirits. Wrym spawn flit across every street and building. Going anywhere in the umbra besides the caern is dangerous for even the most expierenced lone garou.
There are a few old tree and building spirits still alive, but most have gone long ago. There is a haze over the umbra, and garou that are closely connected with their spiritual side (Those with 4 or 5 gnosis) step outside of the caern and bawn find their fur stands on end without their control. It's uncomfortable to leave the caern.
The entire area outside the caern seems to be littered with broken spider webs.
