No matter where in the world your character is from, the news of the devastating earthquake that has destroyed most of downtown LA is the main focus of your news programs. If your character pays no attention to the news, the information travels by word of mouth. Several Garou septs {Garou are what werewolves call themselves and septs are groups of werewolves that live in one area} are known to be in the LA area, and word of their situation is not as readily available as that of the general populous. Many septs not in the area wonder what ramifications the earthquake has had on their sisters and brothers.

Downtown LA is in ruins today after an 9.5 magnitude earthquake struck last night. It happened at 3:42 a.m November 6th, while over a million people lay sleeping, unaware of the disaster that was to befall them. As the earth began to shake, the few people who were awake had no time to react as buildings that were supposedly earthquake proof fell to the ground in seconds. And while most of the damage was done in those first few, the earthquake continued on for approximately 47 seconds.

Few survivors have been found at the epicenter of this deadly quake. Once the shaking stopped, people in the outlying areas of the city's center, scrambled out into the open, only to see the entire downtown area leveled. After an initial period of shock, the survivors in the outlying areas began to dig through debris to answer the muffled calls for help as well as find loved ones still under rubble. As injured people were saved from under the rubble, many of them died while laying on the side of the road. Many of the medical personnel were also trapped under debris or killed by the earthquake. The medical centers were destroyed as well as the roads to get there.

Though many of the people trapped under rubble have been saved, a 7.1 magnitude aftershock that hit two hours later sealed the fate for many who had been waiting under the rubble for help.

Emergency vehicles are still trying to make their way into the center of the destruction, but the going is slow as all of the roads lay covered in rubble. Many have set out on foot, but the further these emergency personnel travel into the ruins, the more grim the situation seems to be. There have been only 52 survivors found in the 1 mile stretch of city that surrounded the epicenter of the attack, and few are being found as they continue their search.

At nine o’clock, under a special message from the President, the city was placed under martial law. Hundreds of troops are now being sent to patrol the streets, while hundreds more are already set at work assisting the fire and police departments. The strictest orders are being issued. Some say that these orders are perhaps too strict and that the the military spirit may be going a bit far in their protection of the local citizens. Rumors have spread that three thieves met their death by rifle bullets while at work in the ruins.

The water supply in the downtown area is entirely cut off, leaving no way to fight the fires that have engulfed the remains of what once were downtown buildings. The fire has spread to silver lake and parts of Hollywood as well. There are some places in the outlying areas that have water, but at this stage it is heavily polluted with sewer and drainage lines. Assistant Chief Falroy is asking everyone to boil and sanitize any water that may be coming through to outlying areas, as it may not be safe to drink.

In some areas, contamination isn't the only water problem. The earthquake has also caused a giant tsunami that has washed away parts of what were once Santa Monica, Redondo Beach, and the Los Angeles International Airport. Reports are still coming in on the devastation in those areas.

The Governor has set up the Hollywood bowl as temporary housing for the thousands of homeless this disaster has created. Many people are making their way with their blankets and scant provisions to the Hollywood bowl to find shelter. There are 35 buses that have been sent to shuttle people to the bowl but several parts of the road have been partly destroyed and need to be worked around. In short, most of these people have found they are adding a 10 mile hike to their anguish.
